NO LONGER IN BUSINESS

We will still occassionally sell items from our own collection on Facebook and/or Instagram, so feel free to follow those if you like – but the 'brick and mortar' shop in Torbay is no longer operating.

In the summer of 1991, Treasure Cove opened it's doors in the beautiful town of Torbay, Newfoundland. A passion project for Greg and Patricia Haynes, who started collecting and refinishing antique furniture in their early 20s, Treasure Cove has been a reflection of their travels throughout North America, Europe and the UK. Greg was a proud member of Canada's Air Force for 27 years, so they moved their young family from city to city – a lot. All the while, the couple collected antiques and oddities knowing one day they'd get to live out their dream of owning an antiques and collectibles shop of their own. Treasure Cove became a reality when Greg retired from 'the forces' – his short military-hair grew long and grey, and he traded his combat boots for comfy sneakers he rarely fully laced up.

The duo spent the next couple decades taking buying trips seeking out new items for their shop. Meeting new and old customers, many of which have become long time friends, and living out their early-20s-dream of owning their own antiques shop. Tragically, in the summer of 2019 Greg passed away suddenly. The doors of the shop closed for a time as Pat and the family reeled from their loss. Greg loomed large, a big personality with a boisterous voice. He (and the shop) were famously featured on an episode of the popular TV show 'Canadian Pickers', which still reruns often on stations around the world. Greg is dearly missed and will always be the heart of Treasure Cove Antiques.

With the support of many friends and family, Patricia Haynes continues Treasure Cove's story – which marked it's 30th Anniversary in 2021. She ran the shop on her own for a couple years and in July of 2022 closed the doors for the last time after a huge sale that saw the sell off of pretty much every single thing in the shop.

A photographer her entire life, Patricia has been looking forward to retiring in style by getting back out on the road taking photos of our province. Say hi if you see her out on your travels, she probably has a camera in hand and great memories of Treasure Cove in her heart.
